The Thai government sends their overweight police officers to fat camp to trim down. Briefly.co.za asked South Africans if SAPS should introduce the same.

Thailand takes the fitness of their police officers very seriously.

Overweight policemen are sent to fat camp to cut down on the bulge.

The men are forced to follow a strict diet and exercise as much as possible.

Briefly.co.za asked readers if South Africa should do the same for our cops and the results were very entertaining.

Some loved the idea so much that they suggested it be adopted for politicians as well.

Briefly.co.za gathered that the vast majority felt that obesity is rife within SAPS.

Colin Sawyer said, “It would mean 95% of them.”
Lorraine Boshoff noted, “There would be no one left to serve and protect!”
Michael van Zyl commented: “They should be suspended without pay until they have got down to the proper weight and fitness levels but what about the police who cannot read or write or even speak properly.”
Pius Dube Nyoni said, “South African police have JoJo tank stomach.”

However, one social media user stood firmly behind the police officers and provided a different perspective.

Nzaliseko Hole said, “Diet is closely dependent on means and awareness. Most of our people leave on low cost maize meal products and other high calorie meals by circumstances not by choices. We should inspire and motivate and avoids humiliating our heroes.”
