The daughter of ANC Parliamentary Chief Whip, Jackson Mthembu, has committed suicide.
Mthembu confirmed her passing on Twitter.
"We are in deep pain," Mthembu posted.
On Wednesday, Mthembu confirmed that Khwezi Mthembu, his eldest daughter, had taken her life. She passed away in the Pelican parliamentary village in Cape Town, according to The Sowetan.
Mthembu did not provide more specific details, nor has he brief the media about the incident. However, he did say on Twitter that he and his family did not know what had driven Khwezi to committ suicide.
She was 25 years old.
There was an outpouring of condolences for Mthembu and his family on social media.
