In celebration of the South African singer, actress and TV presenter, Nandi Madida's birthday today, Briefly.co.za put together a few facts on how the talented artist rose to fame.
South Africa's singer, actress and TV presenter, Nandi Madida, rose to fame with her single titled Tonight, which was produced by DJ Franky. This marked the start of her fabulous career.
Her success in the music industry followed with her album Nandi in September 2012 and then her music video, Goodtimes in February 2013.
Nandi was born in an area called Maphumulo in Durban and began performing at the age of four after she was cast as the lead ballerina in a ballet. She began modelling, winning many titles, including Miss Junior RSA.
Nandi was introduced to her music career after she won a talent search which provided a steady gig as a performer at Gateway Mall. She landed her first television presenting gig at age 15 when she hosted the SABC 2 pre-teen entertainment show, Bling, in 2004.
She always wanted to study journalism when she was in high school but chose to study law instead, first at UKZN and then Varsity College.
Nandi released her first single in 2011 and established herself firmly on the music scene with her album in 2012. The following year she joined Dineo Ranaka and ProVerb as co-host of the Mzansi Magic magazine programme, All Access Mzansi.
She played the role of Zokuthula " Zoe" Dhlomo in the Mzansi Magic telenova, The Road, from 2015 to 2016.
She met and married the love of her life, Zakes Bantwini (who's real name is Zakes Madida), in June 2016, and then co-hosted the second season of the e-TV reality TV series Coke Studios, alongside Trevor Sineke, from August 2016.
She joined the BET entertainment magazine show, BET A-list, and co-hosted alongside Ayanda Thabethe in September 2016.
Nandi has an impressive resume. We would like to take this opportunity to wish Nandi a very happy birthday today. We know she is having a blast, judging from her earlier tweet today. Take a look below.
Nandi and Zakes have a son named Shaka who was born in 2016. A month ago, Briefly.co.za reported that the celeb couple are expecting their second child in less than two months.
The singer and TV presented took to Instagram on Monday, 21 January to reveal she’s carrying her second child with hubby, Zakes Bantwini, who is a musician too. The announcement was in the form of a magazine cover. They made the February edition of Glamour Magazine.
The post read: “Honoured to know we made history for @Glamour_SA, with this being the first cover having both a male, and female celebrity on it. It’s fitting as this year not only will we bringing new life on this earth (in less than two months), but also bringing new life to some incredible projects as well."
