Legendary Mzansi actor, Atandwa Kani, announced that he will be starring in an international musical about the great Nelson Mandela.
Kani is a performing arts legend and there is no one who is more deserving than he is to star in such an iconic musical.
Briefly.co.za learnt that the Black Panther star will be acting alongside international actor, Quentin Earl Darrington, who will be playing the role of Tata Mandela, and Sasha Allen, who will play the role of Mama Winnie.
Mzansi composers, Greg Dean Borowsky and Shaun Borowsky, will be composing some of the music for Mandela.
The musical will tell the story of his struggle through apartheid right up to his democratic triumph. The focus will be around the Mandela family and how this journey impacted them.
Kani took to social media to express his excitement over the debut of the musical. He cannot wait for people to see it and for Tata Mandela’s story to be told on such a momentous international platform.
This week in New York, a reading of the musical was given. Nandi, Madibas’s granddaughter, attended the event in honour of the family.
The reading seemed to have been extremely emotional and well-received. Rumour has it that Mandela will be shown on Broadway in the next couple of months.
