Black Twitter thinks Bonang Matheba's new-launched champagne is overpriced. But her bestie, Somizi, came to her defence, saying South Africans are quick to complain about the price.
Bonang Matheba's Methode Cap Classique (MCC) champagne, called House of BNG, is retailing exclusively at Woolworths at a cost of R399 a bottle.
According to Okmzansi, Black Twitter thinks Bonang's MCC is overpriced as compared to other MCC's which retail between R200 and R299 a bottle. Even though her range sold out on the day of her launch.
Some of Bonang's celeb friends quickly came to her defence, including Somizi, her reunited bestie.
Somizi wrote: "As South Africans, we are quick to... We haven't tasted it. We don't know the quality. We are quick to say "Aaaah the price!". If you look at what was put together, what is in it? The actually making of it, we will tell. Let us taste before we dismiss it."
DJ Fresh also weighed in on the debate. He said: "It goes back to what I said about my African wardrobe. Why should we make billionaires of Europeans and Americans, when we should be making Africans billionaires. For me it is deliberate that I'm looking for local designers to wear."
Prince Kaybee said he'll buy whatever Bonang is selling.
Above all this negative hype, there were plenty of followers who supported Bonang's MCC. Some even posted pics of the bottle they just purchased while others went searching Woolies stores, who seem to be all out of stock. Check out the comments below:
