Cyclone Idai has caused extensive damage and claimed many lives in Mozambique and Zimbabwe, and actor and presenter, Maps Maponyane, took to social media to call on people to lend a helping hand in this dark time.

Social media is a platform that can be used for good or bad, and actor Maps Maponyane took to Twitter to attempt some good.

Cyclone Idai has claimed hundreds of lives and displaced many more in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi.

Rescue efforts continue and help from anywhere would make a difference during this crisis.

Maps hopes that his call for help for those countries could lead to raising awareness and helping to send relief for the cyclone's victims.

He tweeted that his prayers are with the victims and asked anyone who could, to give aid.
