ANC politician, Fikile Mbalula, took to social media to throw shade at ‘other pastors’ while commending the Zion Christian Church’s bishop, Joseph Lekganyane, for building schools instead of spending money on luxury items.
Although he does not mention who these other pastors are, Mbalula asserted that they buy private jets and high-end vehicles, such as Bentleys, flashing their wealth around.
Mzansi had a mixed response to Mbaks’ rant, with many agreeing with him and condemning the actions of pastors who have turned religion into a profitable business, and many pointing the finger back at Mbalula instead of appreciating his concern, Briefly.co.za discovered.

One Twitter user expressed their concern that the ZCC was busy building schools while Mbalula’s political party was engrossed in corruption. Another user accused him of trying to win votes by using ZCC followers.
Many Twitter users, such as Chuene Mapoulo, took the opportunity to share Mbalula’s gratitude for the work the bishop does. Chuene pointed out that he has also built and extended a freeway for well over R360 million.
One user shared his concern that religious groups build schools with the intention of using them as platforms to instill their message. While this is worrying, considering parents do not have the privilege of choosing a school that represents their beliefs, it was worth pointing out that it is a minuscule compromise to make.
