- Esidakeni residents were recently given the shock of their lives when they awoke to the sound of one of their goats bleating in distress
- A South African python had slithered into the family’s livestock area and swallowed one of their young goats whole
- Local snake expert, Fanie Cilliers, came to the rescue and safely removed the python from the family’s residence
The Makobani family, who live in Esikadeni, were woken up last week to the sounds of one of their goats in a panic.
When the family went over to the animal enclosure to investigate, they found a massive python busy ingesting one of their goats.
Instead of panicking, the Makobanis kept cool heads and contacted a local snake expert, Fanie Cilliers.
Fanie and his son arrived soon thereafter at the Makobanis’ goat pen and safely removed the gigantic snake from the area.
The snake was slow and bloated, with the outline of a young goat clearly wedged in its stomach.
According to the Ladysmith Gazette, this is the 208th python that Fanie has removed from the greater Esidakeni area in the last 6 years.
Briefly.co.za learned that Fanie never charges the locals for his snake removal service, as he wishes to protect the South African python, which are declining in number due to local culling.
