South Africans were left divided over a video of Gwede Mantashe offering a lady money for her vote.
The 2019 national election is just around the corner and political parties are covering a lot of ground as they try to secure votes.
A video surfaced on social media which showed ANC National Chairperson, Gwede Mantashe, doing a bit of campaigning.
The video shows Mantashe asking a lady if he could buy her vote for R20, to which she answered no.
"So you don't sell your vote?" he said before asking her for her vote.
Twitter parody account Man's Not Barry Roux shared the video on his social media page on Saturday.
He captioned the post: "Gwede Mantashe asking a woman if he can buy her vote for R20."
The video sparked quite the reaction on social media and it left Mzansi divided. Briefly.co.za gathered some tweeps condemned Mantashe for trying to 'buy' the vote.
Ms Sereo, who goes by the Twitter handle @sereo11, commented: "Shameless SIES! If they'd been doing RIGHT by the masses the votes would roll in automatically now otla ka 20 randa engkgang!"
However, others defended Mantashe, adding he did nothing wrong and he was trying to prove a point - you can't buy votes.
