- South Africans are talking about Coconut Kelz after her stint on eNCA to discuss the state of the nation
- The cameo sparked controversy as many took her seriously and feared the worst
- It has come to light that Kelz’s character was created by comedian, Lesego Tlhabi, and she’s released another funny video clip
South Africans were up in arms after watching an interview with Coconut Kelz on eNCA.
Kelz was introduced as a political correspondent, affiliated with the Democratic Alliance, and spoke about the state of the nation.
Her ridiculous comments made many fear for the future of South African politics.
It has since emerged that Kelz is merely a character created by comedian, Lesego Tlhabi, and she’s using it as a platform to start meaningful conversations about our country.
Coconut Kelz was created to represent an entitled millennial with a fancy accent, but not much substance.
Tlhabi previously made weekly appearances on Radio 702 as a guest, but her stock has risen since the eNCA interview.
Briefly.co.za noted the popularity of her funny videos on social media.
We’ve decided to share the below one, which involves a conversation between her and her mother regarding Heritage Day.
The two ladies disagree on whether to call the day Heritage Day or Braai Day.
A tussle ensues and Tlhabi’s mom strikes her. The comedian’s response is, “Oh my gosh…she is so black you guys.”
