Briefly.co.za published an article recently about Bafana Bafana’s chances of success at Afcon 2019. The sense was that South Africans are feeling more optimistic about the team, but it’s clear that many aren’t getting their hopes up.
Briefly.co.za penned an article on how Bafana fever is slowly sweeping the nation following the heroic performance against Libya.
We posed the question whether Bafana can be crowned kings of Africa again and our readers have had their say.
Although there’s a greater sense of optimism than in recent times, it’s clear that many people aren’t getting carried away.
Let’s face it, Bafana have really struggled over the last few years so supporters can’t be blamed for being cautious.
Based on the below reactions, Bafana have a tough job on their hands when it comes to winning over the supporters.
Katlego KatMakaveli said, “Next round their out... You'll be crying and swearing.”
Candice Johnson added, “SA must give credit where its due and that is to Banyana Banyana, who hasnt really seen support from SAFA management, but we pay Bafana for poor performance.”
Steven Mokash said, “Let me just prepare for the worst because Bafana Bafana has broken my heart many times.”
Stix Lerama said, “Not in this world, the only thing we should be happy about is that we qualified. I only see bafana being kings of Africa only in world of dreams.”
Two social media users offered advice on how the team could improve.
Muhammad Jogiat said, “Not unless they have a multicultural squad, that's a racist team.”
Selemahae Matsepe commented, “Highly possible yes, all games by match fixing.”
However, even though supporters have been burnt in the past, South Africans are still behind the team.
Dennis Ndlovu said, “Yes they can be giant killers.”
Lvulumzi Mtyulubi added, “Excellent performance hopefully during cup of nation it’s going to be the same!!”
