- A social media post polarised South Africans as it touched on the controversial topic of service delivery
- The post included an image of a township next to a body of polluted water with lots of litter
- A viral tug of war ensued between social media users as some blamed the ANC, while others pointed finger at the DA
Twitter user, @_likanye, shared a tweet which was captioned: “Here's to 25 years of bullshit.”
It contained an image of a township on the edge of a body of contaminated water.
The polluted area paints a vivid picture of a community living in a dire environment.
Briefly.co.za gathered the location to be at the informal settlement of Langa in Cape Town.
The post quickly went viral since being shared on Wednesday, but tweeps couldn’t agree on who to blame.
Some tweeps seemed disillusioned by the voting process as a whole.
The tweet alludes to failure of the ruling party to remedy the situation.
However, others pointed the finger at the Democratic Alliance as the township is based in the Western Cape.
Others felt that the residents themselves are to blame.
