Social media users were moved by an image of a man putting his wife and children in a refrigerator to paddle them across the flooded streets. Many South Africans reacted to the touching photo which recently resurfaced on social media.

The image was taken during floods in Houston in the US in 2016. Nevertheless, many social media users took the moment to appreciate and respect those dedicated to their families, Briefly.co.za found.

Twitter user, Kelvin Odanz, shared the picture on Twitter and commended husbands and fathers who make sacrifices for their families without seeking recognition.
“Men have been raised to see most of these sacrifices as normal, as part of ‘being a man’. We don't ask to be appreciated, we don't expect anything in return. We just do it because it has been carved into our identity to protect, provide, sacrifice,” he wrote.
Considering the strong movement of women fighting patriarchal societies and practices, Kelvin felt it was necessary to take a second to appreciate men out there who went above and beyond for women and children, disproving common stereotypes.
