On Sunday, a social media post surfaced which claimed a young boy was buried alive in the walls of a church as its foundation.

However, some believed the story was fake news and Briefly.co.za decided to take a look at the facts and get the truth behind the disturbing images.

The post was shared on Facebook by Kisa Kisakye Ed and it quickly spread onto other social media platforms.

The claim read:

"A 12-year-old boy was found in the middle of a molded, laid blocks of a wall. He was placed behind the walls alive, buried alive behind the walls, used as a foundation for a church building. How he survived is still a mystery."

The facts:

According to the Daily Mail, the incident took place in Nigeria. The young boy, who was identified as Aduragbemi Saka, played in 12 inch gap in a cafe in Ondo, Nigeria, where he became trapped between a house and a wall.

Saka was allegedly trapped there for three days before he was helped. According to reports, locals ignored the sound coming from the wall, not knowing it was Saka crying to himself.

It was not until a couple of residents heard him singing that they looked into the gap to find the 12-year-old stuck between the walls.

Briefly.co.za gathered the local police came to his rescue, smashing the bricks of the wall to set him free.
