Auditions for the role of iconic Lebo Mathosa in a new biopic on her life were held in Johannesburg and hopeful celeb kids were among the actors trying to land the role. Dancing and acting were put to the test.
BET Africa held auditions for the role of legendary kwaito artist, Lebo Mathosa, in a TV series based on her life and career, and hundreds of hopeful young women and girls showed up.
Among these hopefuls were a couple of celeb kids who wanted to land the role.
Somizi Mhlongo and Palesa Madisakwane's daughter, Bahumi Mhlongo, and Owami Mafokate, the daughter of Arthur Mafokate and Queen Sesoko, auditioned in Johannesburg on 31 March.
Bahumi was very nervous before her turn to audition, as reported on by TimesLIVE. Her parents apparently didn't know that she'd be auditioning.
Arthur was at the auditions to support Owami, and shared snaps of the day.
Briefly.co.za gathered that the auditions called for actors aged between 10 and 14 to play the role of young Lebo, and actors between 20 and 30 to play the older Lebo.
Portia Gumede, Rolie Nikiwe and Mmabatho Montsho were judging the auditions, which were held in two stages - acting and dancing.
It's not clear if Zodwa Wabantu was at the auditions - she said earlier that she would be more than happy to play the role.
