A small business owner from Sea Point goes above and beyond to help her community. Shanaaz Allie runs a campaign called Mosadie Gives Back to feed hungry children in Mitchell's Plain once a month.

Allie uses R8 000 of her own money to help those who need it and spends her day off from work cooking 400 meals for neighbourhood kids. She has been doing this for over a year because it’s heartbreaking to see the number of children in her community who need food, Briefly.co.za found.

A friend and supporter of Allie, Kim Prissman, proudly said:

“She cooks the most delicious biryani which I tasted last week when I went to help with the cooking.”

Allie comes from a disadvantaged background and understands the difficulties of making ends meet. Overcoming many challenges, Allie has become a successful businesswoman and is determined to give back.

Prioritising her work feeding children, Allie uses public transport and works long hours. “She wants to feed even more children, even if it means going without the little luxuries that would make her life easier,” says Prissman.

To help ease the pressure on her friend, Prissman as called on the public to help raise money and food to support Mosadie. “Everybody who drops off food will receive her secret recipe,” she says, providing incentive for people to drop off parcels at Allie’s salon in Sea Point.
