Zenani Mandela says her mother Winnie was robbed of her legacy

Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's daughter, Zenani, has said that her mother has been robbed of her legacy.

Zenani made the comments while giving a speech about her mother.

She added that she was disappointed that many people had only defended her mother after she had died.

This comes on the one year anniversary of Madikizela-Mandela's death, and there has already been much debate around her legacy. 

The EFF and ANC, for example, got into an argument after the EFF's proposal to rename Cape Town International Airport in honour of Madikizela-Mandela failed. This led to Julius Malema and Fikile Mbalula arguing on Twitter.

Their argument seemed to highlight some of what Zenani was referring to in her speech.

Zenani went on to highlight some of the sacrifices her controversial mother made in the name of the anti-apartheid struggle, and also spoke of the role she played within the ANC, Briefly.co.za has gathered.

Zenani said she hoped that the truth about Madikizela-Mandela would be rediscovered.
