Zodwa Wabantu has apologised for failing to show up to a gig in Benoni this past weekend. Events promoter, David 'DJ Token' Issa, said that the dancer was the headline act at the African Block Party but never came.
David said that he offered Zodwa R15 000 to headline the party and she agreed. He said he even transferred the money to her account. But on the day of the event, he got a call from a woman claiming to be Zodwa's manager, asking to move the time.
“They never took my calls. I continued to call Zodwa, but she ignored my calls. When I eventually spoke to her, I heard Zodwa was in Newcastle.”
He said that he is very disappointed and wants his money back.
Zodwa has since apologised for not making it to the gig.
“I am sorry to my fans and the organiser and will definitely pay back the money used to book me.”
She said that she had had to perform in Newcastle on the same day and thought she could manage to do both gigs.
Briefly.co.za recently reported that Zodwa Wabantu is keen to take on the role of Lebo Mathosa in the upcoming biopic. Zodwa said that she loved the late Lebo and said they have similar personalities. The Vosho Queen said that even if she didn't bag the lead role, she would still love to be part of the project.
