Matthew Eledge, and his husband, Elliot Dougherty, decided that it was time to expand their family.

Being a homosexual couple, the pair needed to explore alternative methods of reproduction.

When sharing their decision with Matthew’s mother, Cecile, the couple were stunned when she offered to carry the baby.

However, it was a suggestion they didn’t take seriously due to Cecile being 61 years of age.

They mentioned it in jest to their doctor in Nebraska, USA and he actually saw merit in the idea.

The Daily Mail reported that Cecile underwent a series of medical and fitness tests and passed with flying colours.

Matthew said, “I don’t know how to describe her, she’s remarkable. I have such a deep respect for her and am so grateful that even as a grown adult she continues to go above and beyond for me.”

To round off the family affair, Elliot’s sister, Lea Yribe, volunteered to donate the required eggs as she had just given birth to her own baby.
