Minister Nomvula Mokonyane's husband passed away this morning in a Gauteng hospital. The family has requested privacy at the moment in order to grieve his passing, promising to release more details soon.
Minister Nomvula Mokonyane is currently mourning the loss of her husband, Serge, who passed away this morning.
Limited information is currently available, with the eNCA reporting that Mokonyane had been hospitalised in a Gauteng hospital in March.
The minister has released a statement requesting privacy so that the family may grieve their loss in peace.
In the statement, Mokonyane promised to release details regarding the funeral, memorial events and tribute services in due course.
In other news, the minister had received objections to her appearance on the ANC candidates list after being implicated in corruption.
Briefly.co.za reported earlier that testimony before the Zondo Commission has seen the minister accused of receiving a R50 000 monthly stipend from the infamous BOSASA company, as well as luxury alcohol and meat for family gatherings.
The IEC will be releasing their findings to the objections next week.
