36 undocumented Malawians were reportedly found on the back of a truck in Polokwane.

A traffic officer discovered the undocumented immigrants after pulling the truck over for being un-roadworthy.

The owner of the truck has since been charged with driving without a driver's license and for illegally transporting passengers.

After the truck was pulled over, the immigrants hiding in it were detained. In total, there were 40 people on the truck, including three women and four children, and 36 were undocumented.

Those who did not possess the necessary documents are set to be deported, according to The Citizen.

The migrants were hiding beneath containers of water bottles, according to police. Apparently, they had come to South Africa seeking work, saying that job prospects in their home country were bleak.
