One social media user believes a chair was thrown at the EFF while one EFF member tried to calm his comrades down. Another Twitter user added to this, claiming the Land Party is pointing fingers at EFF members as “they were chanting behind all other supporters of the opposition parties and singing”.

Others contradicted this, saying the man did not have the full clip and only one side of the story was being shown. One man remarked that regardless of what the story was, violence should not have been a response, Briefly.co.za found.

EFF supporters defended the party, saying that members would fold their arms while they’re under attack. Many users also remarked that the ANC has also been involved in chair-throwing incidents and called for consistency from ANC supporters who condemned the violence seen in the violence.

Many users felt that the clip was evidence of why the EFF should never govern the country. One Twitter user, Liberty Mazumber, joked, “I can see plenty of chairmen there.”
