- A fellow teacher was responsible for capturing the footage a year ago, but used it to blackmail the principal of the crèche instead of notifying authorities
South Africans were disgusted to see footage of a crèche teacher viciously assaulting 3 innocent children in her care.
The videos have sparked a huge public outcry as it reveals how the helpless kids are beaten senselessly.
More and more revelations have since emerged and the teacher has been identified as Nellie Senwametsi.
Colleagues and parents describe Senwametsi as a sweet and friendly person and never gave any indication of her violent nature.
SowetanLIVE reported that one of her colleagues had absolutely no idea that Senwametsi was abusing children.
Briefly.co.za gathered Senwametsi to be a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Nandi Mayathula-Khoza, the Gauteng MEC for social development, shut down Ninnie's Neuron's Nursery School and revealed that it was operating illegally as their certification expired a couple of years ago.
Mayathula-Khoza wasn’t impressed with the creche’s owner, Janine Edward, who pleaded ignorance despite parents claiming they raised their concerns of abuse with her in the past.
She encouraged those parents to open a case against Edward as well.
South Africans felt a sense of vindication when it emerged that Senwametsi had been arrested.
However, the 40-year-old was subsequently released on bail of R3 000.
The mother of the 2-year-old girl seen in one of the videos opened up on the impact of the abuse.
She said, "My daughter is not the same anymore. She will sit in a corner and cry for no reason. She is traumatised."

The mother revealed that she removed her child from the crèche in 2018 following her suspicions.
She allegedly informed Edward of the bruises on her daughter’s body, but this was brushed off.
Jo-Ann Kenny-Manotwane, who also has two kids who attended the crèche, removed them following the disturbing videos.
Kenny-Manotwane also insists that the owner should refund her R2000 fee payment for the month of April.
Danie van Zyl is Edward’s legal representative and revealed that a fellow teacher was responsible for capturing the videos.
However, instead of reporting the incidents to the authorities, she used it to blackmail Edward.
Edward then opened a case last week upon becoming aware of the footage.
Van Zyl declared that the teacher in question should be arrested as well for not reporting the abuse even though she was aware of it for more than a year.
Senwametsi’s next court appearance will take place on May 7.
