Andile Mngxitama has invited members of the Indian community to join Black First Land First. The party leader encouraged the community not to 'side with white people' and to support his movement instead.
Andile Mngxitama, leader of Black First Land First, is adamant that his party is for black people.
According to Eyewitness News, Mngxitama invited members of the Indian community to join his party's ranks during the launch of their manifesto yesterday.
During the launch, Mngxitama had called for Indian people to opt out of siding with white people:
“We are saying to Indian brothers and sisters, do not side with white people. It’s about time we enter into an African/Indian accord.”
The controversial leader had South Africans up in arms over his reaction to FF+ withdrawing their application to prevent BLF from taking part in next months elections.
Briefly.co.za had reported earlier that Mngxitama had promised to take up arms, should the party be barred from the elections. He had further declared that white people such as Pieter Groenewald, leader of FF+, would not be welcome in his party.
Some had felt that BLF and it's members were exercising their right to free speech while others had felt that their narrative went directly against the South African constitution.
