Things between #Scandal's Mlungisi and Zinzile have reached a tipping point and she has moved out of his house. When one fan of the show said their storyline is reminding women where their real place is, he started a heated debate.
eTV's Scandal! has a couple of storylines going on at the moment, but none of them have South Africans as angry as the Mlungisi-Zinzile one. Mr Ngema is making his wife choose between studying and being his wife, and this isn't sitting well with viewers.
Zinzile has moved out of the home they shared, and it doesn't look like Mlungisi is about to change his mind or apologise.
One fan of the show, @AphiweFali, said that this storyline is 'reminding African women of their place', which they forgot thanks to feminism.
We're not sure if this guy knew what he was asking for, posting a comment like that on social media.
It didn't take long for people to react to @AphiweFali's tweet, and Briefly.co.za found that they did not take kindly to what he said.
Check out some of the responses:
I feel sorry for wife, daughters and daughters in law, batlonya.
My roots are being a woman whose role is not dictated to by men, telling me what I should and shouldn't be.
The F... Did I Just Read. Women Shouldn't Take Opportunities At Hand Because They Won't Be "Real African Woman" FOH. Gone Are Those Days Women Had To Sit Back & Watch Men Do Everything For Them, FYI She Going To School For Herself.
It’s mind blowing that in 2019 people talk n think like this. Even My father who grew up in a generation that had that mindset understood that education is the only way to empower a girl child. And so he did. I suppose you’re just another boy threatened my women.
Lawd, what am I reading. Yazi, even when Ruth met Boaz, she was working. And I shall park it here.
