Thembinkosi Rawula has resigned from the EFF in the wake of his accusations against the party's leaders. Julius Malema welcomes the move, adding that he intends to personally take legal action against him.
Julius Malema has announced that MP Thembinkosi Rawula has resigned from his party during a press briefing today.
Briefly.co.za reported earlier that Rawula had accused the party's leadership of using EFF money to fund their lavish lifestyles. The accusations had come after the MP had learnt that he had failed to make the party's candidates list for Parliament.
Malema appears to be pleased about his follower's resignation, commenting that:
“As of this morning, we have received a formal communication for the first time from one of those who are disgruntled with the democratic outcome of the list process in a form of a letter of resignation as a member of the EFF. We note this resignation. Good riddance."
According to The Sowetan, Rawula has confirmed he has left the party, adding that he would have loved to give the party time to improperly dismiss him, but had opted not to:
“I would have wished to allow you airtime and express your emotional vents and make fool of yourself once more in public. Give you once more time to abuse your organisational power by expelling me without subjecting me to a due disciplinary process."

The Citizen reports that Malema had vowed to take the MP to the cleaners and will be taking legal action against Rawula. The president of the EFF mentioned that he would be asking for R1 million in damages and that the matter was going to be handled as a personal one, not an 'EFF initiative'.
