Man posts pics of bakkie after lightning 'bliksemed' it during storm

A man, Juan Ungerer, took to social media on Monday to posts photos of his bakkie, which was struck by lightning recently.

Juan Ungerer took to Facebook to share photos of the aftermath of a storm in the Northern Cape. The images shows the completely destroyed interior of his bakkie, with burn marks on the seats.

The driver's side of the bakkie was significantly damaged and Ungerer said he was "blessed" to have walked away from the ordeal unscathed.

"Stop for the hail then lightning 'bliksems' your bakkie like this!! Who can believe it?" he captioend the photos.

According to News24, Ungerer's partner, Rina de Vries, expressed her gratitude that he did not get injured in the freak accident.

"Tonight I have a new view of gratitude. We are incredibly grateful that you are alive and that you got out of [the bakkie] with only cuts on your hands. Grateful for all the help that arrived so quickly. Love you endlessly," she wrote.

Others echoed de Vries' sentiments, adding they were relieved that Ungerer was okay.

Leaticia Martin wrote: "Wow, this is crazy. I am glad you're okay."
Pikkie Sandenbergh commented: "Sjoe Juan. Happy you're alright. It could have been completely different. You're probably a bit deaf now?"
Nini van Deventer added: "Sjoe, and I always told the kids a person is safe in a vehicle... There goes that theory!!!"
