Video shows lawlessness of taxi and sparks reaction: “Entitled idiots”

- The footage indicates the driver stopping at an intersection but is then forced to yield continuously even though it’s his right of way

It was a case of the fast and the furious when a video was shared via Facebook on Wednesday.

The footage shows a motorist stopping at an intersection along with a taxi.

He opts to yield for the taxi driver as they arrived at the intersection at around the same time.

However, just as he is about to pull away, another 2 taxis come speeding past the first taxi.

South Africa Live shared the video via their Facebook page and included the caption: “Road rules don't apply here - Let's see how fast we can make it through a 4 way stop!”

Angry Facebook users shared their frustrations when dealing with taxi drivers on the road.

Mark Muller said, “South Africa is the new Nigeria.”
Jenny Kriek added: “Entitled idiots and nothing gets done!!! Not sure why we have traffic cops because they are never anywhere to be seen!!!!”
Sikes Mosime said, “Damn....those quantums are flying man...haibo madoda!”

Briefly.co.za noted one or two people were in favour of the speeding drivers.

Amukelani Master Jam explained, “In the morning we don't complain about that as we always late safety for what as will get a warning or lose a job someone sponsor them with Nos and turbos please.”
Naas Van Heerden said, “You must remember this is Africa.”
