South African football experts have pledged their support for Mamelodi Sundowns in their pursuit of CAF Champions League glory.
Sundowns face Al Ahly in the second leg of their quarterfinal clash at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Egypt on Saturday.
The Brazilians beat the Egyptian side 5-0 in Atteridgeville during the first leg so most of the hard work has already been done.
PSL chairman Irvin Khoza has pledged his support as he lauded the team.
SowetanLIVE reported that Khoza feels their performances serves as proof of the high level of football in South Africa.
Khoza said, “With their 5-0 win over Al Ahly, they showed that our football is on par with the best in Africa, if not better."
Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic feels that Sundowns can use their huge lead as a strategic advantage.
Sredojevic believes that Al Ahly will commit players forward and that Downs can hurt them on the counter.
He said, "The speed of Sundowns players needs to provide the space behind to score a goal and then everything will be buried.”
Kaitano Tembo also heaped praise on the Brazilians.
The SuperSport United coach re-iterated that their performances have proven that they’re one of the best teams on the continent.
