TV presenter, actor and entrepreneur, Maps Maponyane, took to Instagram yesterday to share the exciting news with his followers, that he has been announced as the new UNICEF ambassador.
It's no surprise, that Maps Maponyane shares a passion for education, development and progress of children. And it's because of this that he was chosen as the advocate for UNICEF South Africa at the annual Autumn Ball, held recently.
Maps posted a short video clip of his appointment, and explained how he landed this awesome new position.
He wrote: "If you know me, you'll know I possess an undeniable passion for the progress, development and education, both intellectually and socially, of children. Which is why recently being officially announced as an advocate for @unicef @unicef_southafrica at the IWC Annual Autumn Ball, is such a phenomenal privilege and responsibility I truly look forward to upholding."
Maps will be working alongside the incomparable Lebohang Masango (@lebohangmasango) as an ambassador for the UNICEF Volunteer Programme, in an effort to ensure that they achieve their mission of #VolunteersForEveryChild.
He vowed to help children in need worldwide and here in Mzansi as well, by creating a network of volunteers to assist in one way or another.
"Millions of children right here in South Africa and around the world are left neglected, unseen, unheard and unsafe. Our hope is to create a network of worldwide volunteers, starting right here in SA, with individuals such as yourself, who feel the desire to contribute in some way to creating a better world and future for our children, ensuring they are seen, heard and safe. Let us all dedicate the precious days of our lives to making this world better, together."
Congratulations to the Maps for this exciting new title and we wish him well for the new project.
A month ago, Briefly.co.za reported that Maps Maponyane has an impressive résumé - he is an actor, presenter, fashion designer, speaker, model, creative consultant, voice over artist, philanthropist and business entrepreneur. He now added one more thing to this already impressive list - he joined the #bettermanproject and became an inspiration to other men.
Men's Health and a number of other South African celebs are pledging to the project and promise to try and be better men. Briefly.co.za gathered that the aim of the project is not for men to be perfect, but to be a better version of themselves.
