Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have dominated world football for well over a decade now, pushing football fans into a corner identifying the best between the two.
Both superstars have five Ballon d'Ors each in their cabinets while helping their clubs win titles in the process.
France Football magazine has, however, taken a different turn to the argument of who is the best between the two players.
They painted a picture of both attackers kissing on the cover of their latest edition asking 'Are you Messi or Ronaldo?' while the duo, in their respective kits, passionately embrace.
According to Daily Mail, the artwork was originally painted onto a bus shelter by artist Tvboy in Barcelona in 2017 and has been widely popularised since.
The painting is a homage to the iconic 'Kissing Coppers' creation by Banksy, which was was sketched on a pub wall in Brighton and later sold for £350,000 in 2011.
Meanwhile, a panel of legends was said to have addressed the question and pick their favourite between the two.
Football fans have now reacted negatively to the image of the two stars kissing on the front cover of France Football magazine.
One said that:
"Making the buzz is the French trend, right? Charlie Hebdo, FranceFootball."
Another person wrote:
"It’s not that we’re shocked... but they have families; women and children and I find that it is a lack of respect towards them."
Briefly.co.za earlier reported that Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi, has named himself and rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, as the best players in the world.
Football fans, pundits and players have for a long time been embroiled in the debate on who is the best footballer between Ronaldo and Messi, with opinion most often divided.
However, speaking during a recent interview, Messi admitted they both rank as the world's best footballers.
