Amputee inspires Mzansi with his perseverance and entrepreneurship

Meet Thabo Dube, a local man whose brush with death made him take another look at his life.

Thabo suffered a tragic accident that resulted in the amputation of one of his legs and it changed his world forever.

The young amputee had to recover in bed for 9 gruelling months and even once he was back on his foot, he struggled to come to terms with what had happened to him.

According to Beautiful News South Africa, it was then when Thabo started putting his entrepreneurial skills to the test.

In order to get out of his hopeless rut, Thabo started making and selling T-shirts with the phrase ‘With a T-shirt like this, who needs a leg?” on them.

While, for some people, this seems like an unusual endeavour to embark on after an accident, gathered that the task helped keep Thabo feeling refreshed and hopeful about his situation.

Flash forward and Thabo’s business has expanded into a company that sells gorgeous hand-made bags which speak volumes of his determination and hope.

On top of creating a beautiful product that inspires, Thabo also takes pride in contributing to the community of Stellenbosch, where his workshop employs 5 five local craftspeople.

It just goes to show that sometimes the path to healing is unorthodox and takes a great deal of determination and courage!
