Khama Billiat, Kaizer Chiefs player, has survived an accident on his way home from Port Elizabeth. Billiat had been on his way home from a victorious match when the tyre of his SUV had burst, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
Khama Billiat had his guardian angel watching over him this weekend, that's for sure.
The Kaizer Chiefs player had been travelling back from Port Elizabeth, where his side had emerged victorious against Chippa United, beating them 4-2 in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.
According to The Sowetan, Billiat had been headed home on the N1 when the tyre of his car had burst.
Vina Maphosa, Chiefs spokesman, commented on the incident, saying that:
"Billiat was involved in an accident [on Sunday] and it was caused by a burst tyre. it happened where the N1 joins the M1 in Midrand. He was going home after we returned from PE. He lost control and hit a pavement, but there were no other cars involved. He didn't sustain any injuries."
It is now unclear if Billiat will be taking part in tonight's match against the Golden Arrows, with doctors due to have assessed him late on Monday.
Maphosa says that the team had yet to met about the availability of players, with every player expected to begin training today. Nevertheless, he seems optimistic that Billiat will be on hand, despite the accident.
