One of those who responded to Semenya on Twitter was South African sprinter, Akani Simbine, according to TimesLive. Many ordinary South Africans replied as well, with several posting pictures of chicken feet dishes.

One of them was pleased with Semenya's meal, commenting, "Limpopians are well represented on that plate."

Others were also glad that Caster ate so much traditional food while training.

"Caster's body system booster is all kinds of traditional food," wrote one Twitter user, "If it isn't masonja and pap, it's chicken feet and pap. Imma start eating this way. Screw yall's salads."

Semenya's post made for a lighthearted moment between her and her fanbase. It comes at a tense time for that athlete, who is still waiting for the Court of Arbitration for Sport's ruling regarding her case against the IAAF, which concerns rule changes that would bar Semenya from competing.
