With winter approaching, temperatures are set to drop across the country.
On this note, the City of Joburg shared a controversial post via its Facebook page on Wednesday.
The post implied that wrapping your bed and bedding up in aluminium foil would be a great way to stay warm in winter.
According to the post, the use of foil would be an ideal way to retain body heat.
It included a photo of a bed fully wrapped in foil.
The entrance to the room was seemingly covered by foil as well.
Bemused social media users were stunned by the information update.
Briefly.co.za gathered that most weren’t sure if the post was shared in jest or a legitimate suggestion from the municipality.
Gaynor Paynter said, “The sad part is I think they're serious.”
Joni Van Der Westhuizen said, “Add a sprig of rosemary & thyme, season with salt & pepper bake slowly at 160 for 8hrs and your people roast will be perfect.”
Florence Tshepiso Masetla commented, “That looks more like a crime scene than a love nest. I think I will pass.”
Nikki Friend replied, “Like space blankets just they softer, line tin foil with newspaper or pack newspaper under tin foil then a blanket under mattress too, keeps out the cold and retains body heat. I do that to keep my kiddies beds warm anyway better and safer than an electric blanket. Works very well and no wet beds in winter. Our old folk have done it for years.”
Trishana Maharaj said, “In the event of lighting...you will be grilled/braaied to well done!!”
Peter Jones responded, “It’s fake people! Really there’s a sucker born every minute the old saying goes. And it’s funny!”
