It has been five months since Gigi Lamayne was admitted into hospital for depression. She has expressed some of the emotions she experienced in the days and hours leading up to her breakdown.

It was in November last year that Gigi tweeted her birth date and then added in her death date. This got her fans fearing the worst for her. This South African rapper has on a previous occasion, shared her struggles with depression and again tweeted “The end”.

Briefly.co.za learnt that Gigi discussed with DJ Fresh from Metro FM earlier this week, where she said that she had become tired of the competition with others and just the fact that she was always trying to please everyone, which lead to her hospitalisation.

The star said that she had had just enough of the industry and the constant competing with others. The time had come that she had grown tired of always tiring to be perfect. There were times that she was either gaining weight or losing it and even times when she was too dark. The expectations were getting too much for her.

All these emotions happened at a time that Gigi’s mom was undergoing an operation to remove a brain tumour.

She went on to say that at the time she felt let down, and kept on thinking perhaps the music industry was not the way to go. She was feeling regret that she had put herself out there. She felt that maybe after she had graduated from Wits, she should have just got a 9 – 5 job.

In an interview with TshisaLIVE last year soon after she was discharged for hospital, Gigi admitted that she wished that someone had told her that living under a cloud was definitely not the way life works.

She would have been so happy if only she had accepted that ailments one suffers is not always physical and to spend your life under a dark cloud is not the way life is supposed to be.
