Somizi’s mom, Mary Twala, receives honour for contribution to the arts

Somizi's smile was from ear to ear when he watched his mother being honoured for her contribution to South Africa's art, television and film industries. Mary Twala was given the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver by President Ramaphosa himself.

If you want to see what a seriously proud son looks like, look no further than Somizi Mhlongo. The entertainer proudly shared a wonderful moment with his fans.

His mother, Mary Twala, is one of South Africa's oldest and most legendary actresses, and she was recently honoured for her contribution to SA's art, television and film industries.

Somizi and his bae, Mohale, attended the ceremony and looked on in pride as Mary received the prestigious award from President Ramaphosa.

Somizi couldn't help but boast with his mother's accomplishment and took to Instagram to say he hopes he can achieve just a quarter of what she has.

Proud son. If I can achieve a quarter of what my mom has in the arts, I would have made it.

Mary has been on Mzansi screens for decades, and she's been seen in TV shows like Skwizas, Muvhango and Hopeville to name a few.

She also won African Movie Awards and SAFTAs and is truly worthy of the honour that she received, as reported on by ZAlebs.
