A 20-year-old French student, who studies in SA, was the recent victim of a brutal mugging in Cape Town.
A video has been circulating on social media which showed a thug mugging and stabbing a young woman in broad daylight.
According to The Citizen News, the victim is a 20-year-old French female who is studying at the University of Cape Town.
The report adds the incident took place at Bo-Kaap, which is a popular tourist destination. Briefly.co.za learned the woman was stabbed three times in the neck and shoulder area, but she survived the attack and is recovering in the hospital.
South Africans were left fuming over the brazen attack in broad daylight and it led to many calling for the return of the death penalty.
Dean Derek Nelson commented: "South Africa needs the death penalty. Finished."
Tom Swartz added: "Bring back the death penalty."
Peter J Simons wrote: "He aimed for her neck... He's a killer... I pray that this young lady will be okay."
Craig Mack commented: "Bring back the death sentence for these savages."
Sthembiso Lethabo Mogale said: "This is terrible. South Africa is fast becoming a lawless country."
