- Mosimane believes the best keepers are able to perform consistently for club and country and that the Ugandan shot stopper meets this criteria
- Onyango will be in action on Saturday as Sundowns take on Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has hailed Denis Onyango as the best goalkeeper on the continent.
Mosimane is grateful for Onyango’s fine form as he has saved Sundowns on countless occasions.
While many still feel that Itumeleng Khune is the best in the Absa Premiership, Mosimane firmly believes that Onyango is undoubtedly the best in Africa.
Kick Off reported that Mosimane pointed to consistency for club and country being the key.
Mosimane said, “Number one in Africa, there’s no argument. You’ve got to do it at home, for your club and internationally with your country.”
The coach also spoke favourably of the Ugandan’s fine display in Rabat when Sundowns lost to Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.
Briefly.co.za foresees Onyango being required again on Saturday as Sundowns face off against Wydad Casablanca for the 2nd leg of their CAF Champions League semi-final.
Sundowns will need to overturn the 2-1 deficit following their first leg loss, but can draw on their morale-boosting midweek victory over Black Leopards in Thohoyandou.
