Social media users were left divided after a video was shared online which showed a man skipping out on his petrol bill and driving away.
A video was shared on social media which showed a man filling up his car and just as the petrol attendant walked away, he drove off without paying the bill.
The video was posted by Twitter parody account, Man's Not Barry Roux, on Monday.
"How could you do that? Some people know how to risk being jailed for petrol," he captioned.
South Africans were left divided over the footage. Some dubbed it unacceptable, adding it was a criminal offense.
Social media user @Lotus_RSA wrote: "This is totally not fair, cause he is technically stealing from the petrol attendant."
Another tweep, @nenegal26, added: "It's very upsetting coz the petrol attendant ends up being held liable. I hope they know they are not stealing from the garage but from the man trying to make ends meet for his family."
Lebogang Modise, who goes by the Twitter handle @I_Am_Lebzito, said: "My aunt who is a petrol attendant was kidnapped and dropped 50kms away from home and about 10kms into a forest and had to walk that 10 kms to the tar road and walked another kms to a nearby town. Only because a person didn't want to pay."
Other said with the high fuel prices, they can't blame the guy for making a run for it.
