Gqom singer, Babes Wodumo, has finally broken her silence on the disapproval she had received from Mzansi since she and Mampintsha ‘rekindled their romance’ and announced a song together. They mocked and sang about the alleged assault incident she endured at the hands of Mampintsha in March.
Babes took to her Instagram account to share a poster about her Umlazi gig on 4 May, but was bombarded with comments by her followers who slated her relationship with Mampintsha.
The Instagram follower known as 'Jadestarflex' called Babes out for not using her celebrity status properly and playing with people's emotions.
Jadestarflex wrote: "In a country and world with such a high rate of Gender Based Violence you are using your platforms as a disservice to all the young women & elder victims of abuse. As a public figure you have the responsibility as a role model. You are doing no justice to the calls you sent out earlier this year - calls many responded to and were triggered by. What you have done is confusing and mocks many people who supported you as a survivor of abuse."
But Babes didn’t want to hear anymore. She told the follower in Zulu to mind her own business and stay out of their business.
“Ey sis naka izindaba zakho… uphume ezindabeni zabant ababili.”
Fans were more outraged at her comment and wrote that she will never learn from her mistakes, and called her an attention-seeker.
Fezzee98: "@mmmmolefe this one will never apologise uskhotheni"
Nokwahnzama: "@babes_wodumo attention seeker wena never"
Melody_patch_music: "@jadestarflex The way I was mad when I heard and saw the video, I took so much defence on @babes_wodumo 's behalf because I could relate, been in an abusive relationship for three full years. She triggered so many emotions for absolutely no reason. As a public figure vele you are responsible for empowerment, but ke Wena you don't take anything Seriously. Ave ningacabangi. What y'all did was wrong. Nithele usawoti eylondeni eyningi for your own good. That publicity stunt y'all pulled there stupid, and y'all owe your fans at least an apology."
Lebohang.x: "@babes_wodumo wow I really hope mampintsha wrote this coz this is a slap in the face."
Meanwhile, yesterday, Briefly.co.za reported that Babes Wodumo and Mampinstsha have released a new song together. But what does this mean? It was only two months ago that a video went viral of Mampintsha hitting his girlfriend, Wodumo, and assault charges were opened. Could they be back together? And what about the assault charges?
