Bafana Bafana's Percy Tau has been named Proximus Player of the season in Belgium's second division.
He received the award on Monday night.
Tau was on loan to Belgium's second division club, Union St Gilliose.
Tau joined English Premier League team Brighton after a stint with Mamelodi Sundowns. He received the award for being the most successful player in the Belgium second division. He won the votes for the prize by a landslide, with 228 votes. The runner-up received 89.
Over the season, he scored 10 goals in 33 matches with 12 assists, according to Eyewitness News. As a result, he carried his team to a third-place finish.
Tau took to social media to thank those who had voted for him to receive the award.
"To the supporters, thank you for warm welcome to the Club," he tweeted.
His Belgian side, Union Saint Gilliose, also tweeted in celebration of Tau's victory.
This is not the first award Tau has won. He previously earned the Absa Premiership Player of the season in 2018, Briefly.co.za has gathered.
All-in-all, Tau's maiden season in Europe was a resounding success. He is a South African player to watch in the coming seasons.
