- Local band, The Kiffness, have released a hilarious video entitled Mmu$i Maimane
- The DA leader doesn’t feature in the video, but it sends a subtle, yet funny political message
- The video also pokes fun at the shallow side of rap culture and has gone viral since being shared on Sunday
It seems everyone is getting in on the act for elections 2019, even local musicians.
The Kiffness have created a hilarious new video entitled Mmu$i Maimane, which sends a subtle politically motivated message.
The DA leader doesn’t feature in the video, but the party seems to have the support of the band.
"All these other haters shop at Pick n Pay. You can shop at Woolworths when you vote DA," are some of the snippets from the song.
When ‘Maimane’ is sung, the singer flashes a bunch of fake notes, featuring the photo of Harambe – the gorilla shot at the Cincinnati Zoo.
TimesLIVE reported that the video is a satirical take on a DA campaign video.
David Scott said, "I wanted to poke fun at the shallow/fake side of rap culture and I thought that using fake money would be a good way to do that."
Briefly.co.za noted that the video went viral since being shared on Sunday as it’s already been viewed more than 170 000 times.
