On Wednesday, Briefly.co.za reported that if social media determined votes, the ANC would have lost - a fact the EFF is well aware of.

Floyd Shivambu was asked why they were ahead on social media but trailing behind the ANC and DA in the real-life elections.

"So I asked EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu about why they were winning elections on Twitter during the campaign but such is not the case in reality. He admitted that elections are not won on social media #Election2019Results #IECResults," the video was captioned.

Nkuja Brian, who goes by the Twitter handle‏ @nkujamangweni, added: "I can't believe that was even a question. The number of South Africans not on social media is astronomical."
Hlompho Albert Mano, @HlomphoAli, wrote: "Yet they always bragged about those useless polls."
Another tweep, @IVotedEff, added: "It's simply because we are unequal society. Most people don't afford data, others are uneducated. The clever few can see the light."
