The DA may not have won the 2019 Elections and their numbers may have seen some decline since 2014, but the party had a huge win by getting 74.45% of overseas votes. The ANC managed only 10%.
About two weeks ago the South Africans who are living overseas got their chance to cast their votes.
The date for ex-patriot voters coincided with Freedom Day, which commemorates the day that democratic voting commenced for SA in 1994.
News24 reports that the total number of votes cast overseas was 19 882, and most of them voted for the Democratic Alliance.
According to the report, the DA secured 74.45% of the votes - 14 802 expats voted for them.
Briefly.co.za gathered that the ANC managed to get 2 153 votes - 10.83%. The FF Plus had 4.57% of the votes and the EFF 3.85%.
This is the second big win the DA bagged during the 2019 Elections. The party retains control of the Western Cape.
