According to Briefly.co.za Mampintsha handed himself over to police in March after a video was posted on Wodumo’s Instagram live, in which a man can be seen slapping her. The muso was released on R2 000 bail.

During his first court appearance, Mampintsha told journalists outside the court that he wanted the police to investigate Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” Simelane as well.

He told reporters: “I want the police to deal with her like they dealt with me. People must say what they were saying to me, to her.” H- then opened a counter assault case against Wodumo.

The couple split up after the assault video went viral. However, social media was angered in recent weeks about rumours that the two are back together.

Last week, Mampintsha’s manager, Lindo Buthelezi, told TshisaLive that Mampintsha and Babes had reunited and that Mampintsha had dropped the assault case against her.

Buthelezi did not confirm whether Babes has dropped the charges against Mampintsha but this week, a source told Sunday Sun that the Wololo star intended to drop the charges too.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Natasha Kara, dispelled the claims, saying that she knew nothing about such developments in the case.

“We have noted the media reports but have had no indication that Babes intends to withdraw the charges or that she has already. As far as we are concerned, Mampintsha will appear in court on Wednesday [today]. We have not been told otherwise,” she said.

Kara added that if Babes intended to withdraw the charges, she would need to make the court aware of this on Wednesday.

“We will be going to court because he will be appearing. We will hear in court,” said Kara.

Meanwhile, Babes is also expected to appear in court on Thursday. But on a separate assault charge relating to an incident that took place in Umbilo.

Meanwhile, a week ago, Briefly.co.za reported that Gqom singer, Babes Wodumo, has finally broken her silence on the disapproval she had received from Mzansi since she and Mampintsha ‘rekindled their romance’ and announced a song together. They mocked and sang about the alleged assault incident she endured at the hands of Mampintsha in March.

Babes took to her Instagram account to share a poster about her Umlazi gig on 4 May, but was bombarded with comments by her followers who slated her relationship with Mampintsha.

The Instagram follower known as Jadestarflex called Babes out for not using her celebrity status properly and playing with people's emotions. But Babes' reaction was surprising, to say the least.
