Supra Mahumapelo, ex-Premier of the North West province, has revealed that the ANC provincial task team is waiting on the national committee to decide on their premier candidate. The ruling party has finalised its candidates for the seven other provinces it will preside over, but has yet to name the victor for the troubled region.
Former North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo says that the ANC provincial task team is currently waiting for the national committee to pick a premier candidate.
According to Eyewitness News, the ANC in the region has finalised its candidates in all other provinces, with the exception of the North West.
Mahumapelo, who resigned as premier in 2018, says that he is unaware of the names submitted to the ANC special executive committee.
The former premier feels that the NEC should have a say in the matter, commenting that:
“It means we have to lead with any decision that the national executive takes.”
In the meantime, Mahumapelo admitted that residents in the area were not satisfied with his administration.
Briefly.co.za reported earlier that the ANC premier candidates from the other provinces had incited mixed reactions in Mzansi, with people condemning the lack of youth and female representatives.
