A video was shared on social media which showed a man hitching a ride on the back of a moving vehicle. Social media users were quick to point out a police van, which just passed the scene by without acting. However, Mzansi was left divided on the cops' actions.
On Tuesday, a video was shared on South Africa Live's Facebook page which showed a man holding onto the back of a moving vehicle, which appeared to be a bakkie with a canopy on.
Briefly.co.za saw South Africans also spotted a police van in the clip, which gathered more than 10 000 views in just three hours.
The cops are filmed driving passed the incident and it left Mzansi with questions.
Mosa Nqhome commented: "And the cop car?!!!!!"
Kgosietsile Alphy Malesela Phate added: "Those cops understand what 'mind your own business' means!"
Santjie Rheeder wrote in Afrikaans: "The police just drive by and do nothing. Just shows you the new South Africa."
However, other social media users defended the SAPS, pointing out that the van's blue lights were on so they were probably out on a call.
Dusty Van Wyk said: "The police vehicle is on it's way to an emergency, hence the blue lights. If you called the cops do you want to hear a story of them having had to stop and speak to a fool hanging at the back of a random bakkie first, after they we're already dispatched to you? I don't think so."
Nazz McPoloko added: "Looks like the cops were on call though. Their blues 'n twos were on."
