Presidential inauguration: Paratrooper who crashed is doing just fine

The paratrooper who crash-landed into Loftus Versfeld stadium during the Presidential Inauguration is doing alright, but his ego might be very bruised. He was examined at the stadium and didn't need to go to hospital.

The armed forces deployed four paratroopers as part of the celebration of the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa, but it didn't all go quite as planned.

One of the paratroopers had a bit of a blunder and ended up crash-landing into a soft-shell mortar launcher on display - live on TV for everyone to see.

Other than a bruised ego, the paratrooper is fine, learnt.

News24 reported that Brigadier-General Mafi Mgobozi said the paratrooper was examined at the stadium.

It was not necessary for him to be taken to 1 Military Hospital for check-up.

"The member is okay and they only did observation while in the Stadium and [they] released him. They did not take him to 1 Mil as planned before."

Meanwhile, The South African reported that Mzansi reacted to the incident with funny remarks.

Even President Ramaphosa chuckled at the paratrooper's oopsie.
