- Now, she passes on her knowledge and positivity to fellow South Africans wanting to make a healthy change in their lives
A 48-year-old Pretoria woman, Caren Parkinson, has inspired social media users with her journey to a healthy body.
Caren lost an impressive 87kg over two years and feels like a brand new person.
The inspiring woman explained how her health was deteriorating when she weighed 177kg, as was her self-esteem.
She explained how she used to avoid leaving her house, in fear of the stares that would follow her in the streets, W24 reported.
“I was surviving, I wasn’t living,” Caren admitted
It was in 2016, when Caren had to be admitted to hospital for kidney failure, that she knew she needed to make a drastic change to her life.
“I had so many health issues. I had to take a handful of pills morning and night. I had to see a cardiologist once a month because they were worried my heart would give in, and twice a week a kidney specialist too.”
Briefly.co.za discovered that Caren managed to lose the whopping 87kg by following the popular Banting diet.
Now, she helps people all over the world adapt their lifestyles to become healthier and happier.
Caren consults with her clients online and is currently helping over 40 clients achieve their weight-loss goals.
“To lose that much weight you have to turn your life around completely,” she says. “I’m always available to talk about the emotional side of things. Sometimes you can feel isolated. Not only when you’re so big, but also when you first start banting; you need support,” Caren explained.
Caren has changed her life around, and the fact that she’s been through the tough journey herself, gives her clients hope and encouragement.
“I made the change for my health and I feel great,” Caren gushed.
